Kids Connect Day 2013 Held on Friday, December 6, 2013
Friday, December 6 was Kids Connect Day at The Green Vale School in Old Brookville. Organized by two faculty members ... Kids Connect Day started in 2012 in response to the overwhelming needs of Long Island families following Super Storm Sandy.

At one station, students took a “break” to listen to a reading of a children’s book called The Horrible, Horrible Hurricane, written by Dee Andolpho Shockley. Shockley is a friend of a current Green Vale parent who grew up on the Jersey Shore. Proceeds from the sale of her book will help the Sandy Ground Project build 26 playgrounds in storm-damaged neighborhoods in the tri-state area. (The playgrounds are being named after the 26 victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings in December 2012.) View slideshow of the event »
